eS Travel and our travelers are immersed in a culture when we visit a country, even when visiting for a short period of time. During our visits, communities are gracious hosts sharing their culture and every-day lives with us.
As a thank you, eS Travel gives back to the communities we visit by giving time, money and needed supplies to vetted local organizations.
We hope you’ll join eS Travel in supporting these organizations and communities while traveling with us!
Hogarcito San Juan Bosco is an orphanage located in La Fortuna that cares for children ages 1 year to 9 years old. eS Travel had the opportunity to spend time with these happy, healthy children who have been displaced from their homes and birth parents. The goal is to reunite the children with their parents or, if that isn’t an option, for the children to be adopted by a new forever family locally or abroad. In the meantime, Hogarcito San Juan Bosco needs financial support to buy necessary day-to-day items such as diapers, cleaning products, and food.
During eS Travel’s Journey to Rejuvenation for Women in Costa Rica, we will visit the children of Hogarcito orphanage bringing them needed supplies. Although this visit is truly optional for all our women travelers (no judgment here!), we hope the women who join our journey experience the beautiful children with broad smiles, giggling spirits, and sparkling eyes that we’ve had the pleasure to meet.
eS Travel often frequents a particular hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica for overnight stays. During our last night in Costa Rica on our travel there in June 2021, we had the pleasure of meeting Johan Miranda Roja, one of the waiters at the bar restaurant within the hotel. We liked him immediately and asked him about his tattoos which of course had a story connected to each design. One in particular was about his involvement and leadership with an organization that he and an American named Brett Steelsmith started within Johan’s home town, Jaco, Costa Rica. Its inception was all for the love of the game, futbol (or soccer known by we Americans).
Futbol in Costa Rica is a national pastime and yet many of the children who play in their local league do not have proper gear such as shin guards, cleats or even uniforms. Tacos for Ticos (tacos is a local slang term for sneakers) collects gently used cleats and other futbol/soccer gear that can be distributed for any child who also has a love for the game.
If you, as a world traveler, have the ability to donate any gently used futbol/soccer gear, please let us know. We would be happy to get the items into the right hands for the children of Costa Rica!
During our recent visit to Costa Rica in December 2022, eS Travel was able to happily donate 19 pairs of cleats to Tacos for Ticos!
